You can learn a lot about a home from a listing. Understanding the neighborhood around it takes a little more exploring.
Where would you grab coffee? How would you get to work? What's within walking distance? What would an ordinary Saturday look like?
Those are the kinds of questions behind LiveLincolnPark.com, a localized directory and neighborhood resource I'm building for people interested in this part of Chicago.
I wanted to give Lincoln Park its own space. There is enough here to keep someone exploring for years, from neighborhood restaurants and independent shops to parks, cultural destinations and residential streets.
Live Lincoln Park brings those pieces together. The directory includes places to eat, get coffee, shop, exercise and spend an afternoon. Alongside it, I'm developing practical information about living here, including transportation, housing, schools and the different pockets within the neighborhood.
My goal is to make it useful whether you're planning a move or already live a few blocks away.
Moving to Chicago reminded me how many questions come with getting to know a new place. Even with years of real estate experience, I still had to learn the everyday details of my own surroundings.
You start with the big questions about location and housing. Then come the smaller ones: where to run errands, which route to walk, where to take visiting family and how to get settled.
That experience helps shape what I want Live Lincoln Park to become. I want someone researching the neighborhood from another state to have a useful starting point. I also want a longtime resident to find something worth exploring around the corner.
I'm a real estate broker with Baird & Warner's Lincoln Park office. Helping people understand a neighborhood is a natural part of helping them find a home.
A property search becomes more useful when you can picture your life around an address. Your commute, routines and interests all influence how a location works for you.
Building this directory also gives me a reason to keep exploring, asking questions and learning about the community where I work. That knowledge carries into my conversations with buyers, sellers and renters.
Live Lincoln Park is a project I'll continue developing as I discover places and identify questions the site can help answer.
Visit LiveLincolnPark.com and explore. If there's a local business, destination or neighborhood topic you think I should include, I'd welcome the suggestion.
And if your exploring turns into a conversation about buying, selling or renting in Lincoln Park, I'm happy to help.
