The Tallest Home Currently For Sale In Chicago

One of the unintended consequences of operating a website called Every Chicago Listing is that you occasionally find yourself researching things that nobody asked for.

Today's example:

What is the tallest home currently for sale in Chicago?

Not the most expensive.

Not the largest.

Not the one with the best views.

Just the highest.

As it turns out, the current title belongs to a full-floor penthouse on the 91st floor of the St. Regis Chicago.

Ninety-one floors.

For perspective, most people want a home close to the ground. This one is close to commercial air traffic.

The views are spectacular. Lake Michigan. The Chicago River. The skyline. On a clear day, probably things that aren't even Chicago anymore.

The best part is that this information is almost completely useless.

The number of people actively shopping for a penthouse on the 91st floor is very small. The number of people who need to know which listing sits highest above Chicago is even smaller.

Yet here we are.

Because sometimes real estate websites don't need to be entirely practical.

Sometimes it's enough to answer a question that nobody was asking five minutes ago.

Will this information help you buy a home?

Probably not.

Will it help you win a Chicago trivia contest?

Also probably not.
